Gun-Toting Liberals??

Photo by Derwin Edwards from Pexels

Have you ever heard of a gun-toting liberal?

The stereotype of gun owners is that they tend to be Republicans with American flags flying in the backs of their pickup trucks. But 2020 has turned a lot of things upside down and changed people’s minds about a lot of things — gun ownership included.

What’s going on in the gun shops in 2020? Why do there seem to be more liberals becoming gun owners? Let’s take a look.

Trainging Simulators - Are they Good?

How do you get good at defending yourself with a gun? The same way you get good at anything else — lots of practice.

However, there are a few obvious practical problems with practicing defense with a gun. First off, it gets expensive to shoot live ammo on a regular basis at the range. Secondly, you can’t effectively practice 360-degree target finding, ducking, hiding, and shooting from different positions at a linear range. Finally, you can’t actually go around shooting people or fully understand what it is like to have someone shooting at you.

So, how do you practice?

Technology has blessed us with gun training simulators that effectively put us in different scenarios and allow us to train “under pressure.” In the past, these simulators have been prohibitively expensive for all but law enforcement agencies with big budgets or wealthy aficionados.

Until now…

Dry-Fire Training - A Crucial Part of Your Learning

How do the best shooters get good at shooting? How do you teach your body to move, draw from the holster, seek cover and concealment, or turn and shoot when you are limited at a linear range where you can’t move and can only shoot one direction?

The only way to train muscle memory, especially muscle memory that you’ll need to use in a highly stressful situation, is to physically do it. Thousands of times.

How is that possible with a pistol?

We’ve got three words for you — dry-fire practice. Let’s take a quick look at what it is and the benefits here.

Deconstructing the Training Scars

Firearm training helps prevent unnecessary loss of lives. Most gunfights come in close, fast, and hot. Training for such situations is the next best thing after owning a firearm. Additionally, it is the determining moment between coming out alive or becoming the victim.

Each confrontation ends up in favor of the most skilled individual unless the least skilled individual is very lucky. However, every survivor of an armed encounter will advise you that depending solely on good luck is not a good idea.

Tactical Self-Defense Training For The First-Time Gun Owners

Thirteen million Americans have acquired firearms since the beginning of the year. Five million of the purchases were made by first-time buyers - among who two million were women. Additionally, one out of nine Democrats has bought a firearm within the past three months. Interestingly, the majority of firearms purchased are not of the sporting or hunting types but for self-defense. So why do these numbers matter?

What is all the talk about Caliber?

.22 LR, 9mm, .380, .45, oh my! What do all these random numbers on bullets mean and which one should you buy?

Whether you’ve already bought your gun or not, it’s a good idea to get an understanding of the different types of ammunition and which will best serve your purposes.

There are many types out there, but only a few are very common — and for good reason. They do an excellent job.

Let’s look at the common ones here.

What Is Caliber?

First of all, the caliber simply refers to the diameter of the gun barrel and thus which size cartridge will fit into it. When we are speaking of ammunition, Caliber is a measurement of a bullet’s diameter. It can be measured in both inches and millimeters (mm). For example, .45 ACP has a diameter of 0.451 inches and 9mm has a diameter of 9.01 mm.

Guns in the Home - Preparing for the Evil that lurks outside...

But if it does, you will be eternally grateful to yourself that you were prepared.

What are we talking about? In the U.S., a home is burgled once every 25.7 seconds. While most burglaries happen during the day when no one is home, some folks aren’t so lucky.
